GLOBAL VALUE INVESTING, FROM ASIA

My name is Graham Rhodes and I am the founder of Longriver Investment Partners Limited (“Longriver”), a boutique investment manager based in Hong Kong, the city in which I was born and raised. I have worked as an analyst, as a banker and now as a fund manager and business owner.

My investment strategy is grounded in the principles of value investing, whose business owner’s mindset I consider the best framework yet for understanding and managing risk. I always seek a margin of safety, which means limiting myself to businesses within my power to analyse and then waiting for great odds.

To maximise my productivity, I prefer investing in exceptional businesses I can hold for a long time. I mostly look for these in Asia and North America but invest globally because no one region has a monopoly on great businesses and great investments. Moreover, the insights I gain often carry over across global supply chains.

I hope for my service to free clients to focus on what matters most to them, be it their families, businesses, careers, or charities. And while our form is corporate, as the name implies, our attitude is one of partnership. I take my fiduciary duties seriously; my family’s money is invested here too.

The name Longriver is an homage to Hong Kong’s greatest value investor. Like our investments, it also embodies a journey compounding through time. If you wish to learn more, I would be delighted for you to get in touch.

The public section of this site is where I publish my thoughts on investing. I also occasionally record podcasts to profile my friends (there is even one where my wife profiles me). My fund letters and analyses of individual companies are available too once you have registered and agreed to a disclaimer. I write to make my assumptions explicit and then try to tear them down. If you can help me do so, I would love to hear from you too.

Longriver is regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong and is licenced to conduct Type 4 (Advising on Securities) and Type 9 (Asset Management) activities in Hong Kong. Longriver serves Professional Investors only, as defined under the Securities and Futures Ordinance. Please note that nothing on this site should be taken as investment advice or a solicitation to invest.
